For more than 70 years, Huachipato was the main steel producer for the mining industry, playing a key role in the industrial development of the country and particularly of the Biobío Region.
After the suspension of the company’s steel activity in August 2024, the company continues to operate its non-steel businesses, such as the development of port and logistics activities and the extraction and marketing of limestone. In parallel, Huachipato 2.0 is being designed, which will be composed of four hubs: logistics; industrial; innovation; and ecological conservation, and will have territorial development as a transversal axis of the project.
